Dee is a journalist and editor with over 15 years experience specialising in food, drink, travel and hospitality. Formerly editor of Food & Wine Ireland, Easy Food Magazine and Yes Chef Magazine, and Publishing Director of FFT, a trade hospitality title for the Business Post, Dee is currently freelance and has columns with Irish Country Magazine and TheTaste.ie. She also writes for Irish Country Living in the Farmers Journal and the Climate supplement in The Sunday Times.
In 2022, Dee founded Scoop: Irish Food Stories, an annual food magazine published by Nine Bean Rows Books. The first two issues were themed 'What is Irish Food?' and 'Eat Your Feelings', and the third issue is currently being worked on and will be published later in the year.
The events side of the magazine is called ‘scoop and a yarn’ where Dee hosts in-person storytelling events chatting with people in the hospitality community and the audience creating fun experiences of banter and craic. This year, Scoop and a yarn will feature at Ballymaloe Food Festival, International Literature Festival Dublin, and Samhain Festival of Food and Culture, among others.
Dee co-authored Blasta Book #5 SOUP with former Spice Bags Podcast co-hosts Mei Chin and Blanca Valencia, which won Best Food Podcast in the Irish Food Writing Awards in 2021 and 2023. Currently, she is co-host of Beár Bia Podcaast with Oisín Davis which focuses on Irish food and drink pairings.
She regularly hosts stages or participates in lineups at festivals including, Hot Press’s This Wonderful World for Spirit of Brigid in Kildare, Beyond the Plate at Beyond the Pale in Wicklow, National Dairy Council's show garden at Bloom in the Park, Bastecamp at Big Grill Festival and Me Auld Flower Festival, Theatre of Food at Latitude Festival and Electric Picnic, and Taste of Kildare.
Dee is a member of the Irish Food Writers’ Guild and a judge of Blas na hÉireann (national Irish food awards).
