Our commitment to Sustainability

At Ballymaloe Food Festival, we are passionate about protecting the environment and reducing our impact on the planet. This year, we have teamed up with Cork County Council and innovative partners like MyGug to introduce a range of new sustainability measures.

From reusable coffee cups and food containers to dedicated recycling areas staffed by our friendly volunteers, we are making it easier than ever for everyone to do their part.

All of our cutlery and foodware is made from compostable Vegware, helping us significantly cut down on landfill waste.

Powering a Greener Future

In an exciting new development, the biogas generated from festival food waste will be used to fuel our cooking demonstration hobs.

By turning waste into clean energy, we are reducing our carbon footprint and creating a truly circular system within the festival grounds.

Every small action – such as scraping leftover food into the correct bins – helps to fuel this process and ensures that we make the most of every resource.

Join Us – Do Your Bit

We encourage all festival-goers to 'Think Before You Bin' and to help us lead the way towards greener festivals.

Please return your reusable cups and containers to reclaim your deposit, recycle properly at the designated areas, and support our volunteers who are here to guide you.

With everyone’s help, we can create a vibrant and enjoyable festival that celebrates not only great food and community spirit, but also a deep respect for our environment.
