The Grounds

The Grounds Est. in 2024 is the proud continuation and expansion of the existing, Fodder Bakery, from sister company The Trough, which was founded in 2022. The bakery is a family run business and is managed by siblings Lesley, Chloe, and Conor along with the support of investment and assistance in the day to day running of our establishment from our parents Susan and Mark.  Our Bakery is nestled in our home village of Kilmore Quay, a small fishing village in the most south east corner of Ireland over looking our local nook, ‘The Little Beach’.

‘The Grounds’ name was derived from our locality in rural Wexford where fishing and farming are the primary industries which surround us. The term the fishing grounds and the farming grounds signify a good location to conduct these activities and so the name was born, giving a nod to the sea we overlook and draw inspiration from and the land we cultivate for our produce. The Bakery was born from necessity as co-founders Lesley and Conor opened a specialty coffee trailer, like many in 2020, and sourcing artisan baked goods that matched their esthetic, vision and quality standards proved difficult. This challenge inspired us to create our own, and so our very own bakery was born.

Our neighborhood bakery offers inclusivity where possible and carries forward our passion for community connection. The products that are produced in our bakery are designed to be seasonal, aesthetically pleasing and to meet the needs of a diverse range of customers, such as gluten friendly products, protein balls for health-conscious customers, vegan and sugar free range along with something for everyone in-between, not to mention our pastry range for those who wish to indulge. Our talented bakery floor team is comprised of seven local bakers whom flurry to early morning rises as the first batch of our popular banana bread and sourdough is lovingly prepared.
