Sarah Browne: Oyster Workshop

Ballymaloe Festival of Food Workshops

Sunday

3:00pm

Join Sarah from Oysome for a Oyster Workshop where you will learn a wealth of information about these delicious bivalves. Discover tips and tricks to master your shucking game and then pair your oysters with a range of beautiful, seasonal toppings to make the oyster sing. From rhubarb mignonette to strawberry and basil granita, Sarah's creativity knows no bounds but the oyster is always the star of the show. This really is one not to be missed!

Sarah Browne grew up on a dairy farm outside Listowel, North Kerry. She spent her childhood either covered in muck out in the yard helping her father on the farm or covered in flour in the kitchen helping her mother with the baking. She decided to study Architecture at UCC but her passion for food never left her and she filled her spare time working in kitchens and bakeries. In 2020 she began a course in pastry at CIT. In September 2020, she undertook a course in Culinary skills at Killybegs. In 2021 Sarah applied and was selected to become a “Taste the Atlantic Young Chef Ambassador” which combined her love for the outdoors and the kitchen. In September she began working in Cava Bodega -for Michelin star chef, JP McMahon - where she climbed through the culinary ranks over the course of two years. In July of 2023, Sarah founded Oysome and has been operating culinary events and workshops around Ireland celebrating Irish oysters since then. She is passionate about sustainable food and farming and graduated with a BA in Botanical Cusine at TUD with First Class Honours last Autumn. Sarah is now undertaking a master's programme in Applied Nutrition at TUD.
