After his 2016 cancer diagnosis and major surgery just last year, Brian Kennedy is back and better than ever. He is living, breathing proof that music is medicine.
Brian’s spectacular voice and engaging personality are undimmed by his recent challenges. He is a multi-platinum selling singer/songwriter, a highly-regarded radio/television presenter, Doctor of Letters from University of Ulster, novelist (not surprisingly for a lyricist of his calibre), and 'Voice of Ireland' coach.
His latest CD is the 32-track 'Essential Collection' comprising all new recordings from the past and present including a duet with Boy George.
In the early days of his career, Brian was the featured vocalist with Van Morrison’s Blues & Soul Revue for six years and appeared on five Van albums. He was the lead singing performer in 'Riverdance on Broadway' for nine months at Manhattan's Gershwin Theatre in a role created especially for him at the request of the composer Bill Whelan.
Brian is first and foremost a live performer and songwriter. His own words, 'music is my lifeblood,' are reflected in his relentless schedule since the 1990s. His constant touring including major global festivals, has resulted in a thriving international fan base.
Brian has shared the stage with an extraordinary list of legends including Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Buckley, Moya Brennan, Sinead O’Connor, Eddi Reader, Boy George, Sting and even Richard Gere - but that’s another story.
Experience and celebrate that voice, musicianship and personality during Brian's concert in Ballymaloe Grainstore.
